DREAMS BY THE DOZEN

For every 1% growth of small business, poverty drops 2%. That staggering statistic begins with a dream. Those living in poverty have never been taught how to dream, let alone set tangible goals. We assist in developing plans to materialize these ideas, and sharing these dreams with others in the community, inviting accountability to see them through. The basic conversations I Thirst brings to the table can build life-changing businesses, lowering poverty levels throughout communities. Dreams by the dozen are only possible with strength in numbers; ripples are formed from one small splash. We aren’t trying to make dreams come true­–we just make them feasible.

A Small Business Start Up

Dilisha is a bundle of vision, initiative, and entrepreneurial ability. She is resilient in overcoming whatever obstacles get in her way. I Thirst had the privilege of providing her with seed funding to build her website and set up her sewing facility. She recently registered her new business: Nepali Hastakala (which means handmade). The demand for her natural fiber products such as handbags, laptop bags, shawls, etc has increased, and through I Thirst’s help has been able to set up shop and fulfill her orders. Her heart’s desire is to hire women at risk to train them in sewing and producing her products. Investing in her future will have a ripple effect that will touch and lift many from poverty.

Here women entrepreneurs lead growing businesses, provide jobs and mentoring to facilitate independent living and growth for their employees.
